Packing List

My Dearest, I have gone to speak with Philippe - he must know we are to be gone from this place. We can tarry no longer. The time has come. Please gather what we must take - no more than what we can bear upon our backs. Take these: – Bandages – Blankets – Gloves – A cloth for the face – What coin we possess – The map – A good knife – Spare garments – A box of matches – A flask for water – A small cooking pot – Provisions for the journey – Rope Leave behind aught of sentiment. We shall return for such things when the world is kinder. For now, we must think only of one thing - to live. Yours in haste and hope, Michel
