Going For Help

To Whomever Finds This, We were too late. They came from the trees before dawn - not like the others. Organised and fast. A man led them, but he was not a man. Towering, in a long coat, moving like a wounded soldier. He carried a sword too large for sense and gave no orders, yet they obeyed him all the same. I saw him take Bernard and Fantine. I couldn’t stop it. I couldn’t even scream. Bastian is dead. Struck down with the others who tried to fight back. God rest their souls. I am taking the river south east towards the Sombre Forest. The millers spoke of the Voltigeurs stationed there, an honourable group of soldiers - one of the few left. They are my only hope of saving Bernard and Fantine. It may be a small hope, but I must try - and no matter the outcome, I must keep living. For Louis. Please, if you’re reading this, follow the river. And if you see that thing in the coat, run. Marion
