Hunger Closed Beta access: no invite, or Playtest not in library

What you see

You requested access to the Hunger Closed Beta but have no invite, the "Request access" button seems to do nothing, or Hunger Playtest is not in your Steam library.

Usually the servers, not youConfirmed

Invites are issued in batches while the studio checks stability, so many players wait. You are in when Steam emails you and Hunger Playtest appears in your library.

What players try

One at a time. Tell us whether each one worked and the next opens.

  1. This is the only way in. If Hunger Playtest is already in your library from a Tech Test, you do not need to request again: earlier testers keep access through the Closed and Open Betas.

    Confirmed

  2. When you are granted access, Steam sends an email confirmation and Hunger Playtest appears in your library. Install and launch it from there, not from the Hunger store page.

    Confirmed

  3. The studio says friend invitations stay available even if new access requests close. Several players on the Steam forum say an invite only works between accounts that have been Steam friends for 30 days; the studio has not said that.

Access only goes through the Steam Playtest. The beta runs until 26 October at 09:00 GMT (TBC).

What we know and don’t

Good Fun Corporation’s Getting Started post for the Closed Beta says playtest invites “will be issued progressively as we validate game and server stability”, that new access requests may close at any time, and that friend invitations remain available after that. The Closed Beta announcement adds that players from earlier Tech Tests already have access, alongside players selected from those who requested it.

On launch day the busiest thread on the Hunger Steam forum was players asking for invites, many of whom had requested access months earlier. Nothing on your PC changes whether you get one. The 30-day friends rule comes from players in that thread and in a separate post; we have not found it in an official post.
