    The official Enginefall Discord auto-reply says a password prompt means you are trying to access a server or region that is unavailable or has finished, and that you can change your region in the main menu of Enginefall in the top right corner.

    The same reply points to the playtest dates channel on the official Discord to see whether any playtest servers are up, and to the announcements channel for when the next playtest is.

What we know and don’t

On 5 July a player on Steam wrote that launching the game showed a password prompt for developers or testers, even though they had been invited to the playtest. A second player replied on 8 July that they had the same thing and were also getting “Failed to request region.”

The official Enginefall Discord answers this with an automated reply from its “Head Of Hospitality” bot. It has been posted repeatedly since late June and again on 26 August and 1 September. It says that if you are wondering about a password, you are trying to reach a server or region that is unavailable or has finished. It says you can change your region in the main menu, top right, and to check the playtest dates channel to see whether any playtest servers are online.
