Waterlogged Note

Tuesday My mother appeared to me in a dream. She has been dead some years now. She warned me of a coming disaster, though she would not say what kind. Before I could speak, a sword tore through her chest, and she fell apart like cloth. Blood everywhere. She was naked, though I do not know why. I woke feeling uneasy. Thursday Dreamt I was in a room without doors or windows. The walls, floor, and furniture were all a deep red. A small, well-dressed man stood in the centre. He began to dance. The dance was poor and made me feel ill at ease. Nothing else happened. Friday At first I thought I was awake. Minette, my cat, was curled beside me. Then she rose, looked at me, and said I hadn’t fed her enough. I apologised, but she said it was too late, that she was leaving me for the girl across the village. She jumped from the window and was gone. I woke with tears in my eyes. Gave her more food this morning. Sunday I was back in the schoolhouse I knew as a child. My classmates were there, but they were still boys. I alone had grown. The teacher shouted at me for arriving without clothes. I looked down and found it was true. Everyone laughed. I could not move. Wednesday I was in the midst of a battle. Smoke everywhere. People screamed. Blood on the ground. I was afraid. When I woke, I could still hear the screaming. The air smelled of ash. I went back to sleep.
